Churaman Ahir : ウィキペディア英語版
Churaman Ahir
Churman or Churaman Ahir (चूरमन अहीर) was a commander of Gond garrison, who later became chief of an estate of 22 villages near Kamra or Kamore in Jabalpur district of modern Madhya Pradesh (India). This estate was granted to him by Raja Narin Sa (A.D. 1617-1727) of Garh Mandla.
==The Gond History==
During the Gond rule of Narendra Shah (Narin Sa), Katangi was an army post, where Churaman Ahir was the Commander. Being pleased by the meritorious services of Churaman, he was granted 22 villages near Kamore in Jabalpur. Churaman established his son Hamir Deo here in 1722. Later, the areas up to Deori in Sagar came under the influence of Churaman, which he ruled till 1931. Naredra Shah took back Deori from Churaman in 1731.
Ahirs get numerous mentions in Gond History. The Gonds captured the entire region of districts of Mandla, Jabalpur, Hoshangabad, Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat, Betul and Nagpur. The region was earlier ruled by the Nagbanshi and Ahir rulers and some Rajput clans.
